Job Description Summary

The Plant Arrangement Lead Engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership, direction, and oversight of a technical team of engineers and designers supporting GEH Nuclear. In addition, you will manage complex issues within the functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning and contribute to the overall engineering and 3D model development strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support BWRX-300 SMR plant layout and arrangement for Nuclear Island, Turbine Island and Balance of Plant systems, structures and components from preliminary design through final design for construction up to plant turnover to the customer.

  • Support layout of Plant, System and Component Level requirements and SSCs into the Power Block arrangement.

  • Support development of work instructions, execution, and change management of programs in the 3D model, including Seismic II/I interaction evaluations, Piping/Equipment Attachments, Face Plate Coordination, Pipe Break Hazards, Internal Flooding, RAMI and environmental qualification envelope.

  • Interface with internal and external customers, design partner’s and suppliers in support of BWRX-300 SMR plant layout, plant parameter envelope, plant siting requirements.

  • Work across engineering teams to facilitate effective interdisciplinary arrangement/layout interfaces are established and maintained, resolve 3D model clash control/support independent 3D model reviews and provide 3D model area management and control.

  • Support production of lifetime-record documents, based on the 3D model, that supports Design, Licensing, Fabrication, and Construction.

  • Support delivering products and services on-time and on-budget

  • Support development and maintenance of Work Plans, Scope of Work packages to suppliers’

  • Work collaboratively across the engineering matrix and with business leaders in Product Development, Project Delivery, Sourcing and Quality to ensure close coordination of technical inputs/outputs, project/product requirements, workforce planning/scheduling and risk management.

  • Support the streamline, integration and development team technical and management processes to better support business needs across the organization through Lean and/or Six Sigma methodology.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Structural or similar)

  • Proven experience in designing or maintaining a mechanical system design activities including but not limited to development of process flow diagrams, thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer calculations, engineering specifications, etc.

  • Fluent communication in English and Polish.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Nuclear Island, Turbine Island, and/or Balance of Plant design, layout, operations, and maintenance

  • Demonstrated people management and motivation skills

  • Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering or technical discipline

  • Experience managing highly technical and diverse Engineering teams and functions

  • Strong Leadership skills

  • Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear)

  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)

  • Strong organization skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

  • Prior experience in project delivery and working within a matrix environment

  • Strong customer mindset

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure

  • Six Sigma training is preferred

  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills

  • Strong interpersonal skill
