Shell Account Manager (Marine Fuels) in Singapore, Singapore

Where you fit in?

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing, in close co-operation with the Global Trading Team, the East and Middle East/South Africa ports and regional marine fuels business in your assigned area as well as strategic project teams. Business decisions are to be taken from an end-to-end perspective to optimize the income to Shell. In this role, you will be closely connected to Fuel Oil and Distillates Trading Desk.

What’s the role?

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with East and Middle East/South Africa ports customers to create and maintain an active ex-wharf and delivered spot and term bunker channel for the ports.

  • In addition, you will service and maintain the term channel customer base, by leveraging on existing term relationships with the global customer base.

  • Liaise with Team Lead, Trading Operations team, and Shell Downstream South Africa supply team.

  • Work with Trading team to implement highest value sales channel.

  • Participate in developing Trading & barge strategies around East and Middle East/South Africa ports.

  • Understand and maintain the East and Middle East/South Africa supply/ demand balance for bunker fuels.

  • Track vessel movements and analyze shipping patterns to aid the Sales plan.

  • Interface with the Trading Operations team to drive an integrated Sales/Operations/Trading PnL.

  • Manage commercial claims and complaints.

  • Provide Sales Support to regional customers and assure proper communication between credit management and account management for your respective customers.

  • Understand and communicate changes to market regulations and specification changes.

  • Understand and track the value creation of the retail marine fuel sales channel in East and Middle East/South Africa ports (versus bulk/wholesale/trading sales channel).

You will also:

  • Develop strong commercial relationships across the associated functional areas, as well as within the global bunker sales team.

  • Actively participate on global strategic team to develop port, customer or enhance market intelligence.

  • Operate your own customer base, and manage the many stakeholders across Trading, Sales, Supply & Distribution, etc.

What we need from you?

  • Have sales and account management skills.

  • Have strong literacy and numeracy skills

  • Be results oriented and able to work using own initiative

  • Be a good team player being able to both work in and build teams as required

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about growing the business for Shell on an end-to-end basis

  • Bilingual may be required in some regions

You will also need to have an understanding of the following:

  • Value of Trading and Sales optionality and Key Trading strategies.

  • Bunker delivery process (operations and documentation).

  • Local specific system constraints and regulations and understand regional market dynamics.
