Position Summary:

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Strategic Supplier Partnership Group are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Business Development Manager to join our diverse team and drive growth in the Space and Defence markets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sales, a deep understanding of the Space and Defence industries, and a consistent track record of establishing and growing business relationships. The position runs the business development and sales of a strategic and broad product portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. They will conduct market analysis to identify key trends, opportunities and challenges in relevant sectors in order to develop comprehensive business strategies to penetrate new markets, increase market share, and stay ahead of industry developments. They will partner extensively with teams across ANZ as they drive and service this business segment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cultivate and champion relationships with key partners, including government agencies, defence contractors, and space industry players.

• Collaborate with existing clients to understand their needs, provide customized solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction.

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and lead generation.

• Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients, showcasing our capabilities and value propositions

• Collaborate with internal teams, including technical authorities and project managers, to ensure flawless execution of client projects.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align business development efforts with overall corporate objectives.

• Lead negotiations for contracts, partnerships, and agreements with clients, ensuring favourable terms and mutual benefit.

• Work closely with legal and finance teams to finalize contracts and agreements.

• Establish and supervise key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of business development initiatives.

• Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of development activities and achievements. Cultivate and further relationships with key partners, including government agencies, defence contractors, and space industry players.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Experience in business development within the Space and Defence industries highly regarded.

Exceptional communication and presentation skills. Validated ability to build and manage relationships internally and externally.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
