Overbrook Friedlander Programs Direct Support Professional in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Summary: OFP is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide assistance and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and sensory impairments. The ideal candidate should have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management
  • Assist with transportation to appointments and community activities
  • Implement individualized care plans and behavior support plans
  • Document and report any changes in behavior or health status to supervisor
  • Participate in team meetings and complete regulatory trainings
  • Must be able to follow all Agency policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and on rare occasions, lift and/or move over 100 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time
  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility and personal care needs

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily performed in a residential setting
  • May be exposed to individuals with challenging behaviors
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
