American Chemical Society Software Engineer in Columbus, Ohio

Job Description:

Provide operational support for external and internal software products to increase the products' availability and reliability. Configure and deploy new software and troubleshoot and resolve issues when things break. Optimize and automate work and develop tools as needed to accomplish new tasks. Handle a variety assignments and requests that come from various customers including OCC, Helpdesk, Software Support, development teams, and infrastructure teams. Utilize application development experience and experience working with application servers such as WildFly and JBoss. Use Source Code Management (GitHub, GitLab, and TFS) and continuous integration and continuous deployment tools such as Jenkins. Use monitoring tools including Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or AWS CloudWatch. Work with Linux OS to collaborate with teammates and product owners grooming backlogs of epics and stories for upcoming sprints. Stay abreast of the latest technology trends through individual and team training opportunities. Provide 7x24 operational support for multiple online products on a rotational basis within team.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience with application development.
  2. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus two (2) years of experience with application development.
  3. Other experience and skills must include:
  • Application servers and Web servers on Linux OS.
  • Source code management including GitHub, GitLab, TFS and continuous integration and continuous deployment (CICD) including Jenkins.
  • Monitoring tools including Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Perl, Shell, and Python scripting.
  • Orchestration including Docker Compose and Kubernetes.
  • AWS public cloud experience.
  • Configuration Management tools such as Ansible scripts and Puppet for Virtual Machine (VM) provisioning.
  1. Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
