Job Description:

DuPont Electronics & Industrial (E&I) has an exciting and challenging opportunity within the Laird Performance Materials business for a Senior Associate Investigator, located in Wilmington, DE.

The position in Laird’s R&D group will focus on supporting new product development for thermal interface materials with global customers. A key area of focus will be formulating products that enable high-performance applications such as consumer CPU/GPU, artificial intelligence, EV and automotive, datacenters, and more.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepares thermal interface material formulations and tests material properties. Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data with appropriate documentation.

  • Has regular impact on work team; contributes to multiple projects by providing high quality data with attention to detail and/or presenting results internally.

  • Solves well-defined and more complex problems, working with minimal to moderate guidance.

  • Develops a capability as a technical competency subject matter expert (SME). Understands basic customer needs.

  • Builds technical network. Collaborates with Laird-Wilmington engineering team on performance testing, and utilizes knowledge sharing between North America Laird sites.

  • Adheres to safety protocols and participates in all group safety activities.

  • Contributes to a positive working environment.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials preferred).

  • 5+ years experience in technical professional with high competency in a relevant technology area (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials preferred).

  • Uses sound science and engineering principles and demonstrates curiosity and creativity to solve problems.

  • Has significant commitment to safety, participating in new equipment installation and new process development in accordance with DuPont safety guidelines.

  • Has strong communication skills and is proficient with digital tools for data management (Sharepoint, Microsoft Office).

Preferred requirements:

  • Knowledge of thermal interface materials, polymer physics, interfacial science, composites, and/or formulating are preferred.

  • Experience with design of experiments (Green Belt Project Leadership, six sigma, etc.) is beneficial.
